Yes temp and valve

but we also have an LDR there... and battery level...

cant think of anything else right now



But kudos to the work you do... its much needed and guess damon will look

Hi Guys,

Just a short update. Not spent much time on this yet but I've got an
OpenTRV and managed to fetch and build the latest OpenTRV code and flash
the resulting binary to the OpenTRV, so I have a usable development
environment!

Sounds trivial but there were a few hurdles to cross, such as realising
that my FTDI adaptor was non-standard and trying to present 3.3v to one of
the ground pins on the OpenTRV. Fortunately I noticed the hot IC on the
adaptor before it perished! It might be worth us bearing in mind that this
issue exists with FTDI cables sourced from the OpenEnergyMonitor shop.

I'm now working on the RFM23 configuration for the OpenEnergyMonitor
signalling protocol. Unfortunately they use the RFM12b as opposed to the
RFM23, and the 2 modules are different enough that I might as well start
from scratch there. I will put together a code module to reconfigure the
RFM23, send a packet as an OpenEnergyMonitor node, then configure it back
to suit the FHT8 signalling. Initially I'll trigger this using a GUI
command. Once it's working we can figure out how to schedule it into the
normal operation of the OpenTRV.

I guess we're going to have to think about what we want to log and how
often. Temperature and valve opening are obvious candidates but I'm not
yet familiar enough with the internal workings of OpenTRV to know what
else might be of interest. Something to ponder, but not critical at this
stage. I'll concentrate on getting basic comms working first.

I've also realised that my OpenEnergyMonitor stuff all uses 433MHz RF
modules, so I'm hoping they will work well enough at 868 for some basic
testing, at least.

Anyway, I'll keep you updated with my progress.
