hmm..... for electricity i could also use the "blinker".... it has 10000
pulses for each KW/h... i have tried to look at it just before bed time
where everything is off.... if i remember correct it was one blink every
4 sec max....

and with that it was only modem on the tv cable on plus fridge.... not
much else...

i just hope when they change it in a few months it will be the same
res.....

then again is using CT's better? of course the more precise the better
I think you should be able to get one EMonTX to do the job. One word
of warning, though. The current measuring setup on the EMonTx "out
of the box" has about 100A full scale, and I think the resolution at
"normal" levels of current draw is not really sufficient for
measuring domestic background consumption.

I gather from your post that you have 3 phase incoming mains as
opposed to the single phase domestic supplies that are normal here
in the UK. Since your consumption is split between 3 phases, current
resolution will be all the more important.

It's a while since I looked into it, but it might be worth figuring
out what the resolution will be with the emontx and the current
transformers you are using.

I believe there was a design posted somewhere on the OEM forums for
a current measuring setup with range switching to give better
resolution.
Its not on purpose that I pester you so much about this, its
more that
i'm just a 2nd rate PCB monkey and not a very good programmer :-D

But it makes sense to go for 868, i did not think of the conrad
valves.

Logging this morning heat up of hot water to arduino serial
console and
then my plan is to get the 3 CT's i have back in the fuse box ( they
barely fit)

is my logic ok here;

1 emon TX v2 should cover all i need in utility closet:

heat meter with 2 ways IR com (2 digital pins)
water meter with bouncy reed switch (1 digital pin)
electricity with 3 ct's and one AC

if any pins left then i allready have one DS18B20 chip in the
top pocket
of the hot water cylinder

can one emon TX do the job or do i need 2?
Hi Bo,

Been sidetracked onto getting a "boiler node" working for a
second
home before winter arrives (that's also loosely OEM / Opentrv
related, so I'm going in the right general direction!) for the
moment but I haven't forgotten about getting OEM working on
the OpenTrv!

I would say go for 868, on the basis that the OpenTRV stuff
is fixed
at this due to the rad. valves. That said, the OEM stuff
I'm playing
with is 433, due to some other requirements I have.

Best Regards
Just so i dont shoot myself in the foot, but what freq
should i
choose
when getting OEM stuff?

I want to plan ahead so that the RFM12Pi module from
OEM also can be
used to talk to OpenTRV units...

I have just figured how to read out my Heat Meter from
the IR
optical
interface which is a 2 way port that requires that you
send data and
then get data back... so it was not as easy as you
would expect...

now my next step is to get ready to log the data, for
that i
need a pi
of course and then the radio module and their emontx
v3... with some
clever thinking that emontx should be able to monitor
both water,
electricity and heat at the same time...

@Kevin: any progress on talking to OpenTRV units from OEM ?
