Is it possible/OK to read the IRC logs?<br>

I am not very familiar with IRC (I have never used it before) but from the little I could piece together I got the impression that a conversation logger was running to create "IRC logs". I am worried that I might ask silly questions that might be more easily handled by reading the logs to get up to speed.<br>
