could not have said it better myself, 100% behind that idea
and yes a ras pi with emoncms will be able to do this
you can either use a pc to access it or a phone or whatever, the control
surfaces are designed by the user. so they can be adjusted for pc use or
phone use or both...
an attached display would just be an optional thing
